Intern for Health
Nature of Position: The National Environmental Education Foundation (NEEF), a national leader in building public environmental literacy, is seeking an Intern for our Health and Environment Program. The goal of the Health & Environment Program is to advance environmental knowledge among health professionals to improve the public’s health, with a special emphasis on children and underserved populations. The Program includes projects involving partnerships with federal agencies, health professional organizations, and public health groups to provide environmental education to physicians, nurses, and other primary healthcare providers.
Responsibilities: This position assists the Health Team with duties that will help with advancing environmental knowledge among health professionals to improve the public’s health.
- Primary responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with developing new health materials, tools, and resources as needed
- Assisting with updating health materials, tools, and resources
- Assisting with program activities
- Maintaining program files and directory
- Maintaining partnership spreadsheet
The ideal candidate will have: Applicants can be undergraduate or graduate students with an interest and some knowledge/background in environmental health issues. Applicants should have excellent written and verbal communication skills; the ability to handle, organize, and prioritize multiple tasks; possess a high-level of professionalism and enjoyment working with a variety of people; and have strong computer and literature search skills.
Start Date: August 30, 2010. This is an unpaid position and the work schedule can be 20-40 hours per week; hours are flexible within organization operating hours (8:00a – 6:00p).
