The Power of Partners:
Growing with Toyota
Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. has been a critical partner for NEEF, building a multi-faceted relationship for over a decade that has been pivotal in the success of one of our highest-profile programs.
NEEF marked the 10th year of Toyota’s sponsorship of the National Public Lands Day (NPLD) program in 2008, a steady stream of support that has enabled us to grow NPLD into the single largest volunteer effort for public lands.
Small grants to local groups caring for public lands have totaled nearly $50,000 since 2005 and have helped lead to increased volunteerism and site maintenance around the country. Program wide, NPLD continues to attract more and more land managers, project sites and volunteers. In 2003, 550 sites and 70,000 volunteers participated in National Public Lands Day. By 2006, the number of sites had doubled, with volunteers exceeding 100,000.
In 2008, 120,000 volunteers planted, weeded, mulched and otherwise beautified nearly 1,900 sites. And the growth continues.
