Bartlett Award Application

Applications are no longer being accepted for 2010.

We will announce the 2010 winner during National Teacher Appreciation Week in May

Please fill out the application below.

Application Guidelines

Please fill in the entire form. 

  • The form cannot be submitted if any form field is empty.
  • If you are self-nominating, please enter your information again in the nominator's information area.

Please fill in the application form, and submit at least three letters of support (one from a school administrator, one from a fellow teacher, and one from a student) must be submitted to NEEF by mail or fax.

All Letters of Support must include the following:

  • The reference’s relationship to the nominee;
  • The reference’s familiarity with the teacher and the work for which he/she is being nominated;
  • The reference’s perspective on why the nominee’s work is unique and innovative in the field of environmental education, and how the nominee might inspire others to teach environmental education;
  • The reference’s signature

Q: Can a middle school teacher be eligible for the Richard C. Bartlett Environmental Education Award?
A:  In 2010 we are only honoring a high school educator for the 2010 Richard C. Bartlett Environmental Education Award. Please check back with us for the 2011 award, when we will be honoring a 5th - 8th grade educator.

Q: Can a teacher outside the US be eligible for Richard C. Bartlett Environmental Education Award?
A: Only teachers working in the United States are eligible for the Richard C. Bartlett Environmental Education Award.

Q: Can a retired teacher be eligible for the Richard C. Bartlett Environmental Education Award?
A: Only current teachers are eligible for the Richard C. Bartlett Environmental Education Award.

Q: Is there a minimum number of years a candidate must be teaching to be eligible for the Richard C. Bartlett Environmental Education Award?
A: Yes, nominated teachers must have at least 5 years of teaching experience.

Q: Can teachers self-nominate?
A: Absolutely, it is encouraged.
