Environmental Management of Pediatric Asthma Guidelines for Health Care Providers outlines the environmental health knowledge and skills relevant to pediatric asthma that should be mastered by primary health care providers. The document contains competencies, an environmental history form, environmental intervention guidelines, sample patient flyers, and is supplemented by an online list of resources and web-links. These Guidelines were developed under NEEF's Pediatric Asthma Initiative aimed at integrating environmental management of asthma into pediatric health care. |

Screening Environmental History Forms: The Pediatric Environmental History Form is a one-page form to be administered by the pediatric health care provider in less than five minutes to capture most of the common environmental exposures to children. The Additional Categories and Questions to Supplement the Screening Environmental History provides further categories and questions for the provider to ask if a positive response is given to one or more of the screening questions. A primer on environmental history taking is also available online. |

National Strategies for Health Care Providers: Pesticides Initiative Implementation Plan, as a strategic tool, will improve the medical and nursing professions' ability to recognize, manage and prevent pesticide-related health conditions. Through a three-prong strategy, the Plan will reach health care professionals: formal education (i.e. medical schools, nursing schools, residency and practicum programs); practice settings (i.e. clinics, hospitals); and quality resources and tools. The Plan makes a strong case for changing educational and practice settings to include environmental health education as an important part of responsible, superior quality health care. |

The Proceedings of the National Forum for the National Strategies for Health Care Providers: Pesticides Initiative documents the plenary sessions, keynote address, and workshop reports from the Forum. The Forum was a planning summit for executing the strategies and recommendations of the Initiative's Implementation Plan. The report presents the course of action set forth by Forum participants to achieve a national, interdisciplinary vision for environmental health outreach to health care providers. The three workshop reports: educational settings, practice settings, and resources and tools detail the recommendations and specific strategies raised by Forum participants. |
