Be Water Wise DC
Washington, D.C. will be the third city to take part in our Be Water Wise program, an innovative public-private partnership that brings hands-on environmental education to schools. The city follows Miami and Atlanta, which boasted successful Be Water Wise programs in 2009 and 2010. Watch the video
Volunteers in Action
More than 170,000 volunteers pitched in on National Public Lands Day 2010, including an employee group from Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A. Inc. The Benefits of Nature
Pediatric health care professionals from across New York City convened in Prospect Park in May for NEEF’s first Children and Nature Initiative train-the-trainer workshop, including a park tour with a naturalist. The nature champions will “prescribe” nature to improve children’s physical and mental health. Watch the video.
Be Water Wise Atlanta
Students from 14 Atlanta-area schools are taking part in a unique, NEEF-led public-private educational partnership teaching water conservation – and core subject areas. Be Water Wise Atlanta
Students at 14 Atlanta-area schools are taking part in a unique water measurement activity as part of a new partnership between the National Environmental Education Foundation, Atlanta Public Schools, businesses and nonprofits. “Be Water Wise Atlanta,” includes math, science and language activities focused on water conservation at school and at home, building awareness of this precious resource. NEEF in Antarctica
Earth Gauge staffer Ann Posegate visited Antarctica this year, learning about weather and climate, touring the world's driest desert and -- of course -- photographing penguins.
