NPLD on the Beach

Inspired to learn more about and steward our beaches, coasts, and waters this NPLD? Here are a few opportunities to get involved with NPLD near the water this year. Don't see a site near you? Register an event of your own!

California

  • California Coastal Cleanup Day: Join volunteers across the state at Channel Islands National Park in an effort to clean up our beaches and make trash extinct.
  • California Coastal Cleanup Day: Come together to celebrate and share in the appreciation of California’s fabulous coast and waterways at the Bay Model Visitor Center in Sausalito.

Florida

  • Beach Fossil Hunt: Come and join a Park Ranger to learn about fossils that you can find along the shoreline of Fort Clinch State Park.
  • Coastal Cleanup: The Charlotte Harbor Preserve State Park will be working with Keep Charlotte Beautiful to remove trash along the shoreline of the Park.
  • Coastal Cleanup: Join Delnor-Wiggins and Keep Collier Beautiful for their annual Coastal Cleanup! 
  • National Public Lands Day/International Coastal Clean Up: Volunteers will be gathering with the means of cleaning up the beach and coast of the St. Lucie Inlet Preserve State Park.
  • Waterlettuce Removal Volunteer Workday: Volunteers will be using canoes, buckets, and recycling bins to harvest and dispose of waterlettuce.

Illinois

  • September Adopt-a-Beach: Join the thousands of people caring for the Great Lakes during the Alliance’s September Adopt-a-Beach™ Event, part of the International Coastal Cleanup.

Maryland

  • Beach Clean Up: The event kicks off at 9 am in the North Beach parking lot in MD and wraps up when the dumpster is full or around noon-ish, which ever comes first!

Massachusetts

  • Spot Pond COASTSWEEP: Join the Friends of the Fells as they participate in their annual COASTSWEEP of Spot Pond in honor of National Public Lands Day.

Washington

  • Nisqually Watershed Festival: The Watershed Festival is an annual celebration of the natural world featuring art, discovery, and family activities.
