Grand County National Public Lands Day

25 years & counting for the Grand County National Public Lands Day Event! Please set aside Saturday, September 28, 2019 to volunteer at our event. This year we are looking for 200 volunteers intermixed with other support groups on the following projects:
1. Upper Colorado River – removing trash along the Colorado River, cleaning recreation sites and trail maintenance on nearby trails. Host agency is the Kremmling Office of the BLM. Please contact John Monkouski at 970-724-3040 to sign up. Limit space.
2. Sherman Creek – new trail constructing in the Stillwater Pass Area connecting two motorized trails. Construction will include either a bridge and/or turnpikes with approaches. Site can handle approximately 35 volunteers on this USFS project.
3. Onahu Trail – Trail maintenance on a piece of the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail in Rocky Mountain National Park (NPS). Project work will include constructing water bars or other erosion control measures, grubbing, clearing and a possible trail re-route. Site can handle 35 to 45 volunteers.
4. South Fork Loop – constructing a trail reroute on a mountain bike trail near Winter Park/Fraser area with the Headwaters Trails Alliance. Site can handle approximately 35 volunteers.
5. Administration – if trail maintenance is not your thing, but you still wish to contribute, we are always looking for photographers, van drivers, party decorators, registration assistance, graphic artists, etc. Contact BJ Duffy (USFS) at or by phone at 970-887-4120.
Hope to see you in September!
