Cerbat Foothills Recreation Area (CFRA)

Directions to Event: From Kingman, AZ: Take northbound U.S. HWY 93 from Interstate 40 towards Las Vegas, NV for 6miles until reaching Agua Fria Drive and turn left and head back 4 miles southbound on U.S. HWY 93 towards theCoyote Pass trailhead. The trailhead will be a right hand turn off of U.S. HWY 93 via a deceleration lane. Representatives from BLM will be checking volunteers in near the kiosk and mountain bike skills track at the far (south)end of the parking area. BLM representatives will begin shuttling volunteers to the project site.Event Description: The BLM in cooperation with the Colorado River Area Trail Alliance (CRATA) and the ArizonaConservation Corps (AZCC) will be working to finish construction on the Sidewinder trail located in the Cerbat Foothills Recreation Area. The work will begin by shutting down an unimproved dirt road to provide vehicles access to theproject site. Once at the project site, volunteers will hike approximately 1.5 miles along the newly constructed trail tobegin breaking ground on the final leg of this 4 year project. Volunteers will work with BLM, CRATA, and AZCC crewmembers to learn how to construct sustainable non-motorized trails and utilize a wide variety of hand tools to achievea finished trail tread. The day will not be about trail miles constructed, but rather getting to know the folks that workhard year-round to ensure trails are kept in good maintenance and to learn why trails are important for anycommunity. Volunteers should dress in layers, wear sturdy laced shoes suitable for hiking (no open toes), bring a hat,sunblock, and water (BLM will also provide water and electrolyte beverages).
