Yosemite FaceLift
Yosemite FaceLift is a volunteer event started by the Yosemite Climbing Association (YCA) in 2004 to encourage climbers and other park visitors to clean up the park at the end of the busy season. We expect between 1,000-2,000 people participating this year to remove trash, perform trail work and ecological restoration, and protect the natural and cultural resources of Yosemite. YCA sponsors and organizes the event in cooperation with the National Park Service.

Event details
How does it work?
- Participants register as NPS volunteers ahead of the event here: https://www.yosemiteclimbing.org/yosemitefacelift2023
- All participants receive archaeology training to be able to determine historic artifacts from modern trash.
- Most participants perform self-directed litter pickup throughout the park. All trash is brought back to the visitor center mall to be weighed and sorted.
- There are also "special projects" available for those who wish to join ranger in the specific work effort. Please look to YCA to find out what these projects will be in 2023. Some of these are technical, meaning that the work will be performed by skilled, qualified rock climbers accessing steep terrain.
- Every afternoon, YCA holds a raffle. All participants who sign up as volunteers are eligible to win items.
- Most evenings there are evening programs including speakers, film showing, music, and more.
