NEEF 2015 Year in Review

NEEF has a vision: By 2022, 300 million people actively use environmental knowledge to ensure the wellbeing of the earth and its people.

Through science-based resources, programming for all ages, and work with trusted partners and professionals, NEEF is connecting Americans to the environment where it intersects our daily lives - via nature, weather + climate, and health.

Just a few of NEEF's 2015 highlights...

  • National Public Lands Day 2015
NEEF's National Public Lands Day (NPLD), sponsored by Toyota Motor North America, was the largest in the event's 22 year history, with over 200,000 people volunteering at over 2,500 sites nationwide.
  • NEEF's Environmental Literacy Report
Our in depth report released in July is a window into the state of environmental education and literacy in America, highlighting bright spots and initiating an on-going conversation with those in the EE field.
  • NEEF's "Dealing with Drought" Online Course
NEEF released its second free, online course via to inform the public about the impacts of drought on society and the environment, and provide practical tips and tools for saving water.
  • NEEF Awards First Schoolyard STEM Lab
NEEF, with support from Samsung, awarded its first Schoolyard STEM Lab, an outdoor classroom space designed to work in any climate for a hands-on, immersive environmental education experience, to Nizhoni Elementary School in Shiprock, N.M.
