Our Commitment To Public Lands Every Day

Public lands are core to Americans’ everyday life. They provide places to play, learn, explore, vacation, and be active.  From the community park in your neighborhood to our nation’s awe-inspiring national parks, these public lands welcome all ages, stimulate the senses, build new connections to nature, and create lasting memories for millions of people each year.

That is why for over two decades NEEF, with dedicated support from our public lands sponsor Toyota Motor North America, has been committed to getting more Americans out on federal, state, and community public lands, and encouraging communities to give back and protect the lands they love — not just on National Public Lands Day, but every day.

Thus, our philosophy: “Public Lands Every Day”

Encouraging people to visit and care for public lands is just one way that NEEF works to connect Americans to the environment. We also help people discover how time in the natural world impacts our mental and physical health

“Friends Groups” are often the life-blood of local public lands. They are typically small non-profits that do everything from event organization, volunteering, and community outreach every day. They need our support. That is why NEEF provides Everyday Capacity Building and Everyday Events grants to parks and Friends Groups across the nation, as well as free access to professional development tools and educational resources, to help these groups more effectively manage their organizations and give more Americans opportunities to enjoy their public lands.
