Adopt-A-Highway A1A Cleanup

North Florida Land Trust adopted a three mile segment of Heckscher Drive/A1A through the Florida Department of Transportation's Adopt-A-Highway Litter Removal Program. We need volunteers to help us clean up this section of the highway to prevent trash from entering our state parks and waterways. Come help us clean up this scenic byway and enjoy lunch afterwards at NFLT's Biological Field Station on Big Talbot Island.

Directions: We will meet at 9 AM at the Wayside Parking Lot on Simpson Creek on the western side of A1A. If you're coming from the south, Wayside is a wooded parking area just past Kayak Amelia, across the Simpson Creek Bridge and on your left. If you're coming from the north, it is the parking area past Houston Avenue on the right, just before the Simpson Creek bridge (see map above). We will meet afterwards for lunch at NFLT's Biological Field Station on Big Talbot Island.

What to wear: Comfortable, protective clothing and sturdy, close-toed shoes. Check the weather and dress appropriately, rain or shine!

What to bring: Reusable water bottle (We will have water to refill and cups if you forget your bottle), sunscreen, bug spray, hat.
