Bike Your Park Day

The Cross Florida Greenway along with OMBA Bike Patrol have organized a ride from Santos trailhead on September 24th, to encourage people throughout Florida to explore State Parks and public lands by bicycle. This first annual event will introduce people of all ages and backgrounds to the joy of bicycling in the great outdoors.
Participants will be meeting at the Santos Trailhead 3080 SE 80th St. Ocala, FL 34491 at 9am. There will be different levels of trail to ride (easy, moderate and hard) based upon experience. There will be maps available so if you want to do up to 100 miles of trail you can ride at your own pace. These are natural surface bike trails and traverse through the woods so expect roots, rocks, sand and leaves. You can make your trip as easy or as hard as you like and all of them are fun! These trails are along the “canal diggings” where the 1930’s depression era sea-level Cross Florida ship Canal was going to cut across the state. The area has remnants of the canal that are reforested resemble small scale valleys. In some areas the trails can be challenging but are very rewarding and beautiful. At the trail head you can enjoy the skills park and try the wooden/rock features to see the types of things you may encounter out on the trails. If you are not comfortable with these you can ride around them while out on the trails. The park and the event is free! OMBA will be hosting a trail work day and would love to have you help build a new trail out in Pruitt!!! Please go to and fill out a volunteer form to participate and check out OMBA’s Facebook page for more information!
