Detroit Lake Shoreline and Riverside Cleanup

This is the third annual Detroit Lake Shoreline and Riverside Cleanup. A partnership between the U.S. Forest Service, North Santiam Watershed Council, Oregon State Parks and Recreation Department, Federal Lake Committee for Detroit Lake, and the Detroit Lake Recreation Area Business Association. We cleanup each fall on the shoreline of Detroit Lake and along the Breitenbush River and North Santiam River, both of which flow into Detroit Lake. Each fall, the reservoir is drawn down for winter flood control and leaves miles of shoreline visible as well as leftover trash from the summer season. Volunteers meet in the morning at Upper Arm Day Use Area to coordinate cleanup areas, hear a safety message, and at the end of the event, drop off garbage and have a quick snack.
