National Public Lands Day

On Saturday, September 24, volunteers of all ages are invited to gather at the Prairie Wetlands Learning Center (PWLC), Fergus Falls, Minnesota, from 9:00-11:00 a.m. to participate in hands-on projects to improve prairie habitat.

Everyone is welcome: families, friends, college students, faith families, scouts, and co-workers to spend the morning outdoors.

Work projects include:
• Planting greenhouse native plants in restoration areas
• Cleaning plant pots and the greenhouse
• Removing invasive species: buckthorn, cottonwood, willow, box elder
• Hand-collecting native seeds that are ripe

All materials and training is provided, including gloves, loppers, shovels, bags, etc. Snacks and bottled water will be provided by the Friends of the Prairie Wetlands Learning Center. Please call 218-998-4481 to sign up.
