National Public Lands Day & Stewardship VA-Garden Workday in Paradise

National Public Lands Day is a nation-wide event that draws hundreds of thousands of visitors to parks in order to get them involved in natural resource conservation. Stewardship Virginia recognizes and praises the work volunteers do to keep our state parks aesthetically pleasing and environmentally safe. We are encouraging people to savor the first days of fall weather with a Garden Workday in Paradise. We will be focusing on the formal Paradise Gardens behind the Jones-Stewart Mansion, sprucing up the flower beds and getting the garden ready for the winter. Follow in the footsteps of Evelyn Stewart, an avid gardener and conservationist who designed most of the Paradise Gardens. Leave your mark on the park for generations to come. Please wear clothes and shoes you do not mind getting dirty. Gloves and tools will be provided. Please wear sunscreen and bring water.
