National Public Lands Day Trail Workday at Roan Mountain

Participate in this national day of service by volunteering to give back to the public lands you love... namely, Roan Mountain State Park. We will meet at Park Headquarters to head out on the trails to work on clearing, cutting, and/or blazing. Participants should wear long pants and clothes they can get dirty, sturdy boots/closed-toe shoes, and work gloves. Volunteers should also bring drinking water and snacks, and hats, jackets, and sunscreen are recommended. We will break for lunch from 12-1 PM, so participants should either pack a lunch or be prepared to purchase lunch from a local restaurant. This activity is considered moderately strenuous, and will require hiking up to 3 miles and the use of hand tools. As such, this activity is best suited to participants ages 16 and older.
