National Public Lands Day at Wilson's Creek National Battlefield
Wilson's Creek National Battlefield is looking for participants in our first National Public Lands Day event. Whether you're a member of a youth organization or a family or an individual looking to connect with the national park in your backyard, you can protect one of America's hallowed grounds. (This event has been rescheduled to 10/25) This morning event will focus on trail clean-up, assisting with repair of landscaping damaged in spring and early summer severe weather and removal of garbage from creekside areas near trails and from areas of heavy visitor use like Bloody Hill. Wilsons Creek itself is an important tributary of the James River and an important riparian area in the suburban landscape outside of Springfield. Your work can help to protect the site of the second major battle of the Civil War and to improve visitor experiences as they walk among positions and lines of battle from the deadliest conflict in American history.
