Happy Estuaries Week! To kick off celebrating, we're proud to announce progress on a big project in Delaware Bay! The Maurice River is home to a coastal community, fishing port, and important estuarine habitat, but it’s increasingly vulnerable to storms and erosion. The Society and our partners are continuing our work to protect people and nature in this area by constructing 8 hybrid breakwaters at the Northwest Reach located at the mouth of the river in Cumberland County, NJ. The first breakwater is nearly finished and it’s already holding strong! Stay tuned to learn more about this project as we progress. This is not a volunteer event.
