Kaʻala Boardwalk Rebuild
Sitting at over 4,000 ft, Kaʻala is home to native endemic Hawaiian plants and animals, such Hawaiian honeycreepers, kāhuli (tree snails), pinao (dragonfly), orchids, and lobelias. It is the tallest puʻu (peak) on Oʻahu and can be very difficult to traverse on via public hiking trail. In continuation of the first NPLD workday in September, this workday will focus on completing the rebuild of the boardwalk. Participants will be tasked to complete final touch ups to the boardwalk and some invasive weed control. At the end of the day, participants will have an opportunity to explore the boardwalk and and native species in the area.
