In celebration of National Public Lands Day(NPLD), join Gulf Islands National Seashore for trail and grounds maintenance cleanup! Volunteers will enjoy beautiful bayou views while they remove litter, protect native habitats, and minimize debris around the campground, pavilions, and trails. Bring yourself, your friends, and your family to help us clean the park!

Participants are encouraged to attend Art in the Park, a routine program of Gulf Islands, which will also be located at Pavilion 3 and immediately follow the volunteer service project as another opportunity to celebrate NPLD. We hope you'll come and participate in the volunteer service and stay for community!

What: Trail and Grounds Maintenance

When: Saturday, September 27th from 8:30 - 10 AM CDT.

Where: MS District – Meet at Davis Bayou Pavilion 3

Note the following:

  • Davis Bayou does not require payment to access the park.
  • Gloves and other materials needed to participate are provided. Limited supplies.
  • Closed-toe shoes are required.
  • This cleanup involves walking on potentially uneven grass and walkways. As a result, it is not wheelchair or stroller accessible. Accommodations for people with special needs will be made as best as possible if notified in advance.
  • Programs are subject to change and/or cancellation due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
  • Youth under 18 must have a legal adult with them.
  • Registration is required through Volunteer.gov, however there will be paper forms on-site for last-minute individuals. Registration for youth cannot be done online, but rather in person with attending adults. If you have any questions regarding volunteer registration, email Sarah Elizabeth Dutton at sarah_dutton@partner.nps.gov.

This is a fun, family-friendly volunteer opportunity, and volunteers of all ages are welcome as we offer education, activities, and more on how to honor all things land, culture, and community. Participants are encouraged to expand their experience by participating in other opportunities in the park, whether part of the event or the park's scheduled programming. For more information about the park, visit Gulf Islands National Seashore website.
