Your Day at Sandrock Cliffs:

You'll meet Ryan Engelgau, our Community Volunteer Ambassador, at the Sandrock Cliffs trailhead (Grantsburg, WI, just off State Rd 70). We'll work together to collect litter and debris from the trail, landing, shorelines, and parking areas, ensuring these pristine spaces remain healthy for everyone to enjoy. Beyond the cleanup, it's an opportunity to connect with fellow nature lovers and build a stronger Riverway volunteer community. Restrooms are available at the trailhead and at the north end of the trail's campgrounds.

Getting There:

Safety First:

Your safety is our priority! Ryan will conduct a safety briefing covering:

  • Be Prepared for the Elements: Dress for the weather and consider extra layers or a change of clothes to prevent heat or cold-related issues.
  • Bring Water: Bring plenty of water, even if its cold, you’ll be walking 2.9 miles and need to stay hydrated.
  • Hazardous Items: For your safety, do not touch any hazardous debris. Point it out to the Ambassador immediately. Gloves and safety vests will be provided for other cleanup tasks.
  • Tick Checks: Remember to thoroughly check yourself for ticks after the event and inform the Ambassador if you find a bite.

What to Expect

Ryan will have all the necessary supplies, including trash grabbers, gloves, trash bags, and safety vests. After the event, he'll ensure all the collected trash is properly disposed of.
