Bartram’s Garden will serve as the signature event site for National Public Lands Day (NPLD) 2025, a nationwide celebration of the places that connect us all. NPLD signature sites are selected because they embody the annual theme; this year's theme, "Our Home Outdoors", reminds us that public lands are more than just scenic spaces-- they are where we gather, grow, and feel at home. This event is in partnership with the National Environmental Education Foundation, the nonprofit coordinator of National Public Lands Day for more than 30 years.
Join us at Bartram's Garden for a morning of hands-on activities and community connection. Volunteers will work alongside staff at Sankofa Community Farm and with Bartram's Garden Horticulture team on a variety of projects, including seasonal plantings, harvesting, weeding, invasive species removal, orchard support, and greenhouse maintenance. No experience is necessary-- just bring your enthusiasm and willingness to learn! This is a great opportunity to get your hand sin the soil and connect with nature. You'll work alongside a passionate team of staff and volunteers to help ensure these 50 acres remains vibrant, welcoming, and accessible to all.
Volunteers working with Sankofa Community Farm will meet at the Farm at 9:30am, while those joining the Horticulture team will gather at the Welcome Center. All groups will be provided with instructions and safety protocols for the day before beginning their projects.
PLEASE NOTE: Waivers are completed during the registration process. Each adult must register individually in order to complete the waiver. Parents/guardians must complete registration for individuals 18 and under.
