Event details

Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks will be hosting a National Public Lands Day event on September 27th from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at Dorst Creek Campground!

Located ten miles from the Giant Forest, Dorst Creek Campground rests under open stands of evergreen trees at an elevation of 6,800 feet. The campground has been closed for several years due to winter storm damage. We welcome you to join us on National Public Lands Day to assist Sequoia National Park’s efforts to begin repairs on the facilities at Dorst Creek Campground.

Volunteers will assist with the following tasks:
-sweeping and trimming brush from campsites and roads
-painting and/or constructing picnic tables
-removing debris from the water intake system
-invasive species removal
-litter pickup

Training and supervision will be provided by a project leader. This project involves physical labor including walking, lifting, and repeated bending. Gloves, trash pickers, safety vests, and all other equipment will be provided.
