Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area: Habitat Restoration and Trails Maintenance
Join the National Park Service and the Santa Monica Mountains Fund to help restore and re-energize one of the most popular canyons in the Santa Monica Mountains. Join us at Cheeseboro Canyon in Agoura Hills, CA from 8:30am- 1:00pm where volunteers will help plant native vegetation in areas impacted by wildfires and help maintain trail accessibility for all to safely recreate in our public lands. Training, education, and lunch will be provided by the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area and the Santa Monica Mountains Fund. Note that Cheeseboro Canyon is known for heating up by noon, so please plan ahead and hydrate and rest well the days leading up to the event!

Be prepared for the day:

Closed-toed boots or shoes, proper sun protection, and a refillable water bottle are required at the event. Long pants, long sleeves, and a hat are strongly encouraged. We will supply tools, gloves, and training. Bring a chair or blanket with you to relax and join us for a light lunch afterwards, in addition receive a 'Fee-Free' coupon (which is free admission or waiver for the standard amenity fee for visitors at many Bureau of Land Management, National Park Service, US Fish & Wildlife Service, and US Forest Service lands) and volunteer appreciation items.

Ventura Fwy (101) to Chesebro Rd exit. Turn north on Palo Comado Canyon Rd then right on Chesebro Rd. Go north 1 mile to park entrance. Turn right and follow road to parking lot.

Park in any of the parking lots and meet near the bathrooms at the main/visitor parking where the main trailhead is. Keep an eye out for a green canopy with the NPS arrowhead logo.
