Festival of Wood
Visit the 19th annual Festival of Wood at Grey Towers National Historic Site hosted on National Public Lands Day! Grey Towers is the only NHS in the country administered by the US Forest Service and was the home of Gifford Pinchot, the founder and first chief of the agency. Enjoy children's activities, educational exhibitions, vendors and crafters selling hand-made items, and fee free access to the historic mansion. The event is rain or shine. No registration is required.

To celebrate NPLD the Forest Service at Grey Towers highlights some of the lesser-known benefits and goods and we get from our public lands. Enjoy children's activities, educational exhibitions, vendors and crafters selling hand-made items, and fee free access to the historic mansion at Grey Towers NHS.

 

Grey Towers was the home of Gifford Pinchot, founder and first Chief of the US Forest Service. Located in Milford, Pennsylvania, Grey Towers was completed in 1886 by Gifford's father, James Pinchot, a successful businessman and philanthropist. Today Grey Towers offers, trails, various wayside exhibits, free visitor films, conference and meeting spaces, free parking, visitor center, gifts shop, and ticketed museum tours.
