The Pagosa skyrocket (Ipomopsis polyantha) is an endangered plant that can only be found near Pagosa Springs, Colorado. On Monday, September 22nd, 2025, students from Pagosa Highschool will venture out with MSI staff and members from the Archuleta County Invasive Weed Control District to pull and remove invasive weeds plaguing the designated State Natural Area.

This event is NOT open to the public, but is a celebration for National Public Lands Day. Students will spend half the day learning about the rare plant found in their backyard, while simultaneously learning how to properly remove invasive weeds from the landscape.
