Join the Shawnee National Forest for a morning of stewardship at our beloved Garden of the Gods Wilderness. We are partnering with River to River Society and Friends of the Shawnee National Forest for a volunteer workday focusing on removing trash and graffiti from our public lands. We will be collecting trash out in the woods, around our recreation sites, and access roads. There is a mild terrain change and we walk off the trail.

During this event, we will break into small teams of volunteers to collect litter and remove vandalism from selected sites. We find items as large as mattresses to tiny micro trash. No matter what we find, we try to remove it to help restore the area to its natural state.

Volunteers should wear sturdy closed-toed shoes and long pants. The Forest Service will provide all personal protection equipment like gloves and tools needed for these stewardship activities.

No experience is required. Tools and instruction will be provided. Come ready to make a visible impact with other land stewards by giving back to a forest we all love and cherish.
