When visitors arrive at a clean campsite, they are more likely to want to keep it clean for the next visitors. For 2026, we'll be cleaning up dispersed camping areas in La Plata Canyon. 

We'll have some friendly competition to see who can collect the most litter, artistically naturalize a fire ring, find the most interesting piece of trash, etcetera. Lunch and prizes are included. Please register to volunteer so we know how much food to bring! tinyurl.com/volunteerforthesanjuans

Be prepared by wearing close-toed shoes, long pants, and long sleeves. If you can, bring your own eye protection and work gloves. SJMA has additional gloves and eye pro.. 

There is a decent amount of parking along La Plata Canyon Rd, but you can also vanpool from theSJMA/SJNF Office. RSVP for vanpool TBD.
