Event details

Volunteers will meet at the Flattop Sunnyside Trailhead at 8:00am and return to the trailhead at 2:00pm. Volunteers will be brushing the trail using handsaws and loppers and improving trail tread and drainage. Any volunteers without an Alaska State Parks annual parking pass will be provided a pass so they do not have to pay for parking while volunteering. Please note that Canyon Road is unmaintained with large potholes, and parking is limited.

What to bring: Rain gear, sturdy work/hiking boots, snacks, water, sunscreen, long work pants, and work gloves and safety glasses if you have them (if you don't have gloves/safety glasses they will be provided for the day).

What NOT to bring: Alcohol, drugs, children, pets, and firearms.

Notes: Hiking will begin at the Flattop Sunnyside Trailhead and at the most will involve 3.5 miles of hiking on a moderate grade. No experience is necessary, but volunteers should have a minimum ability to hike and work for 6 hours during potentially inclement conditions. This event is open to volunteers age 12 and up. Volunteers under the age of 18 will need to have a parent or guardian present and parental consent on an individual volunteer form.

This event is sponsored by Chugach Park Fund.
