Event details

Join us at Natural Curiosity's Hermosa Field Station, immersed in the Gila National Forest on the edge of the Aldo Leopold Wilderness. We will gather the evening of September 25th for a welcome dinner and stories of the incredible trail recovery effort within the 2022 Black Fire Scar. Partners and volunteers will then spend the 26th getting out on the trails and giving back to our public lands by installing signs at trailheads and Wilderness boundary lines in the National Forest lands surrounding Hermosa. Live music, food, and general fun to follow the volunteer project. We encourage folks to camp at the Field Station again the night of the 26th and grab a quick breakfast (provided) on their way out the morning of the 27th.

The Hermosa Field Station is 2 hours west of the town of Truth or Consequences, NM and requires a vehicle with generous clearance (AWD or 4WD recommended) to navigate 16 miles of unpaved Forest Service road. Campsites are available at the Field Station free of cost, with access to group bathrooms and wi-fi (the area lacks cell coverage).

Registration required. Please visit our website to learn more and register. Directions and additional details to be emailed to registered individuals closer to the event.
