The Friends of Ironwood Forest (FIF)will be hosting a National Public Lands Day event on the Ironwood Forest National Monument on December 12, 2026, between 8:00 am and 1:00 pm. The project would involve removing fencing that it no longer needed at the Institute for Bird Populations (IBP) Silverbell Site.  Interested volunteers should meet at the Marana Airport at 8:00 am and volunteers will follow members of FIF to the site. Volunteers should bring work gloves, hat, eye protection or sunglasses, sunscreen, water, and snacks to the site.
