Calling all young explorers! On National Public Lands Day (9/26) and as part of Take a Child Outside Week (Sept 24-30), meet a park ranger at The Iron Ore Belt Access for a leisurely hike that mixes science, history, and conservation. Participants will be issued a junior ranger booklet at the trailhead and guidance for working through the activities with the goal of earning the park's junior ranger patch by the end of our adventure. Plan for a 1.5-2.0 mile, relatively flat hike over natural surface trails, mostly shaded but with potential for some open, sunny areas. No two hikes are ever alike... What will you discover on our walk through the woods?

Please wear close-toed shoes, a hat or umbrella for sun protection if you like and bring bottled water plus whatever you need to be comfortable for a two-hour nature walk. The Junior Ranger Program is geared towards children ages 5-12 years old; adult guardians must accompany children. Registration not required but encouraged to help with planning.
