National Public Lands Day (NPLD) is traditionally the nation's largest single-day volunteer effort. It celebrates the connection between people and green space in their community, inspires environmental stewardship, and encourages use of open space for education, recreation, and health benefits. 

Since 1994, National Public Lands Day is held annually on the fourth Saturday in September; this year on September 26th, 2026.

We are asking for volunteers that are willing to help our staff remove invasive species and pick up trash at Longfellow Evangeline State Historic Site from 9AM to 11AM.

Volunteers are asked to wear protective clothing and bring gloves. 

Water will be provided.

Longfellow Evangeline SHS is the first state park in here on the scenic Bayou Teche. We preserve, protect, and present the history of the Creole, Acadian, and enslaved settlers who made Louisiana such a rich cultural treasure. Hope to see you soon.
