Join us for the 2026 National Public Lands Day Beach Cleanup at Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge! Each year we clean the beach from the variety of trash that washes up from the ocean. Along with celebrating National Public Lands Day we will also collect trash data for the International Coastal Cleanup. The Ocean Conservancy uses this data to understand where trash in the world's oceans is coming from and how we can begin work together to remove and avoid this trash in the future.

When signing up for this program please indicate your comfort level with walking 1, 2 or 3 miles as part of this cleanup. We will split into teams based on this data. Thank you!

Back Bay NWR is also offering surf fishing and freshwater fishing clinics on National Public Lands Day. We hope you can join one of these events following the beach cleanup! Registration for fishing clinics can be found here: Public: Fall Fishing Clinics
