Orange Audubon Society is partnering with the City of Apopka to create a 70-acre birding park at Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive. The project will transform a former nursery into a space with native plants, bird habitats, trails, and a sustainable, LEED Gold–certified natural history museum.
Using grants from the Florida Wildflower Foundation and Bloom and Grow Garden Club, a native bird-friendly plant landscape was installed and is being maintained on monthly workdays similar to this event. Gopher tortoise burrows have been located and staked off to protect them. There are always habitat restoration efforts for which Orange Audubon needs volunteers.
Support the project and help protect wildlife while educating the community! For more information, email info@orangeaudubonfl.org or call 407-637-2525. Address is Apopka Birding Park, 2923 Lust Road, Apopka, FL 32703.
