Join DNR staff Thursday, Oct. 1 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. CT at Prudential Game Bird Area in Newton County for a common milkweed seed collection workday. The seed collected will be planted at Willow Slough Fish & Wildlife Area to support monarch butterfly populations and healthy wildlife habitat. Volunteers will meet at the game bird parking area located at 41.042414, -87.411101. DNR will provide gloves and bags for seed collecting. Total walking for the workday is less than a mile. Please wear long pants and closed-toe shoes and bring water, snacks, and bug spray. There are no restrooms on site. After the workday, participants will have the opportunity to enjoy a root beer float! Please register for this event at https://cerv.is/0064x3637.
