Guided Hike, Hemmer Woods Nature Preserve
Join Indiana DNR Regional Ecologist, Ryan Keller, and the Old-Growth Forest Network Great Lakes Regional Manager, Leona Addie, for a guided hike of Hemmer Woods Nature Preserve on Oct. 3 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Central Time (CT). This old-growth forest is a high-quality example of the forest which originally covered southwestern Indiana. Participants should meet in the parking lot at 38.2320, -87.3732. The hike will begin promptly at 10 a.m. CT, so please arrive in advance. The trail is 0.7-miles through the oak-hickory dominated upland section of the preserve to explore this small but unique property located in Gibson County. The trail is relatively flat with some minor elevation changes. If there has been rain recently, short sections can be muddy. Please wear appropriate footwear and dress for the weather. There are no restroom facilities at Hemmer Woods Nature Preserve. Please register to attend this free event. Note: Hemmer Woods Nature Preserve is in the Central Time Zone (CT).
