Celebrate National Public Lands Day by volunteering with the Champaign County Forest Preserves! Volunteers will help our natural resources staff collect seeds from native plants to support ongoing restoration efforts across the Forest Preserves.

Volunteers will walk off trail in tall, scratchy plants to gather seed heads, with guidance from staff. Wear closed-toe shoes with firm soles, long pants and have covered ankles (for safety). Long sleeves and a refillable water bottle are recommended. Staff will provide instruction and tools. All experience levels welcome, all ages welcome, but youth under 14 must be accompanied by an adult, and under 18 need a waiver. Interested groups of 5 or more please contact volunteer@ccfpd.org at least 5 days in advance.
