1st Annual Paddle for Cleaner Waterways
On September 27th we will set out for a 1 or 4 mile paddle in Long Creek, Virginia Beach, followed by an after-party at Ballyhoos. The goal is to raise funds for Clean Virginia Waterways’ education and waterway cleanup efforts in Virginia. We may even pick up some floating trash along the way! This paddle event is open to paddlers of all ages and skill levels. Paddlers under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. You may bring your own paddle equipment or rent for a fee of $25. Registration fee is $60. All paddlers must wear proper safety equipment including a PFD (all paddlers) and leash (paddleboard).

What: 1st Annual Paddle for Cleaner Waterways! This CVW fundraising event will help us enhance the health of Virginia’s water resources through pollution prevention, education, and stewardship.

When: September 27th, 1 PM. (Rain/Wind date: 9/28/25)

*Paddle will be held at a future date, If consistent inclement weather postpones both dates above. No refunds will be issued.

Where: Lynnhaven River (Long Creek) starting and ending at Ballyhoos in Virginia Beach (2865 Lynnhaven Dr)

Why: To help keep our Virginia waterways clean and healthy! 

The goal is to enjoy one of Virginia's waterways while raising funds for Clean Virginia Waterways’ education and waterway cleanup efforts in Virginia. We may even pick up some floating trash along the way!

Who: This paddle event is open to paddlers of all ages and skill levels. Paddlers under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Dogs are also welcome and must be accompanied by their human at all times. PFDs for dogs are recommended.

FREE After Party at Ballyhoos to include food and drink tickets for registered participants.

Safety: All paddlers must wear proper safety equipment including a PFD (all paddlers) and leash (paddleboard). If your dog is paddling with you, we recommend a PFD for your dog also. Please bring a pre-filled reusable water bottle, sunscreen, appropriate clothing and remember to stay hydrated. Each group of paddlers will be accompanied by an ACA certified paddler for your safety. 

Registration: $60 per participant (all ages welcome)

  • Approximately 1-mile and 4-mile course options
  • If you are using a multi-person boat, each paddler must register.
  • Registration includes a reusable cup for the after party, a drink/ice cream ticket and heavy appetizers at Ballyhoos.
  • Additional $25 for kayak or paddleboard rentals provided by Southeast Expeditions, Ebbing Tides, Float and Flow VA and and other local outfitters.
  • Launch times will be staggered from 1:00-2:00 pm with the 4-mile paddlers launching first. Please be sure to list all names in your party during registration to assure that you share a launch time. You will be assigned a launch time at least one week before the event.
