From Storm to Stewardship: Blue Ridge Parkway campground cleanup
Purpose of the Workday: National Public Lands Day falls on the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Helene striking the Blue Ridge Parkway and the mountain region. The Parkway plans to commemorate this anniversary with a series of Volunteer Workdays that will include this project at Julian Price Park Campground located at milepost 296.9 near Blowing Rock, NC.

Description of the Workday: Volunteers will gather for an explanation of the work to be
performed, safety message, site orientation and the completion of required Volunteer
Service Agreement paperwork. The volunteers will then be split into smaller groups
where they will clear storm debris mostly consisting of downed tree limbs from loops
B, C, and D of the Julian Price Park Campground. The volunteers will drag this brush to
collection points where it will be picked up for disposal later. Volunteers should bring
water, wear closed toed shores, long pants and other weather appropriate clothing.
