Help restore public access around Loco Lagoon, an artificial lake used for fishing, bird watching, and outdoor recreation. A trail once followed the lake's perimeter, but much of the route has become difficult to follow because of thick, overgrown vegetation.
Volunteers will help reopen and better define the trail corridor by identifying the original route, trimming or cutting back encroaching vegetation, clearing loose branches and other debris, and improving the trail surface with hand tools where needed. Work may also include placing natural materials to discourage unintended routes and helping make the established trail easier and safer for visitors to follow.
Participants should come prepared to work outdoors and wear sturdy shoes, long pants, sun protection, and work gloves. Tools, supplies, safety information, and project instructions will be provided at the event.
