California Condor Release – National Public Lands Day 250 Event

Watch California condors take their first flights in the wild during the 30th annual public condor release at Vermilion Cliffs National Monument! Five captive‑bred condors will be released on Saturday, September 26 at 12 p.m. MDT (11 a.m. MST). Arrive about an hour early for educational booths and condor information.

Attending in Person:
Driving directions: Take Highway 89A from Kanab, UT or Page, AZ (from Flagstaff: Hwy 89 to 89A). Turn north onto BLM Road 1065 and continue ~3 miles. Note time‑zone differences—event begins at 12 p.m. MDT / 11 a.m. MST. Arrive early; parking and walking may add extra time.
Bring: Binoculars or spotting scope, sunscreen, hat, plenty of water, snacks, a chair, and layered clothing. Closest services are 40 minutes away. Comfortable walking shoes recommended (up to 1‑mile walk).
