The Rubber Duck Regatta has been an event that coincides with RiverFest since 2015. The fundraiser sells rubber ducks to raise money for various charities.  RiverFest has been an annual city festival event for the past 25 years.  The approximate 2000 ducks are poured into the River from the Bankhead Street Bridge at 12 noon. The ducks race to the Walking Bridge in the Park Along the River where  there is a first, second and third place winners who win cash prizes.  Other winners include plucked ducks and, of course, a lame duck.  Rotary Club members get into the river and catch the ducks as they float down the river.  A crowd always gathers on the walking bridge in the park to watch the race and cheer on the ducks.  Quack Packs, Boxes of Quackers and single ducks are sold to raise money.  Sponsorships are sold to businesses. Outdoor Duck signs are given to sponsors. This year the recipient of the funds raised will be the Park Along the River Project.  Members of the Rotary Club, Union County Leadership classes, Little Tallahatchie Riverway Conservancy,  as well as the Union County Heritage Museum sells ducks.  Volunteers sell ducks, help collect the ducks from the river, wash the ducks, count the ducks to get them ready for the next regatta!  The fundraises this year is a National Public Lands Day Event with funds raised earmarked for the NEEF Supported Park Along the River Project.  Come and join us!  For more information call 662-538-0014 or email uchm@ucheritagemuseum.com.  RiverFest is a festival where the Bankhead Street of New Albany are lined with vendors from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. and following that a concert is held downtown.  The event lasts until approximately 10 p.m.
