This National Public Lands Day volunteers can sign up to join park staff to remove invasive Eastern Red Cedar at Green Island. This event runs from 8am to 12pm on Saturday September 26th. Volunteers are asked to meet rangers at Riverside Park boat launch parking lot. We ask volunteers to arrive by 7:50 am to complete any paperwork and receive event information. In the morning everyone will be sized and fitted for life jackets. By 8:30am volunteers will start loading into the boat and depart for Green Island. When volunteers arrive to Green Island, depending on the number of participants, we will break into groups to clear different areas. Volunteers will receive gloves and clippers to use as we work. By 11am we will have volunteers regroup and begin loading back up into the boat. Once we return to Riverside Park, we will have an event wrap up where all volunteers will receive NEEF coupons and an appreciation item.
