Volunteer activities will include collecting and bagging litter, removing debris from developed recreation areas, cutting back vegetation around grills and other site features, and digging accumulated sand, ash, or debris out of fire rings. Participants may use hand tools such as rakes, shovels, loppers, and trash grabbers. Work assignments will be based on site needs, participant ability, and comfort level.

Participants should be prepared for moderate physical activity, including walking over uneven, sandy, or rocky ground; standing for extended periods; bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting; and carrying bags, tools, or other materials for short distances. Some tasks may involve repetitive movements or lifting moderately heavy objects. Participants are encouraged to work at a comfortable pace, take breaks as needed, and notify the event leader of any physical limitations before beginning work.

For safety, participants should wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes or work boots and long pants. Long-sleeved shirts, eye protection, sun protection, and layered clothing are also recommended. Desert conditions may include strong sun, wind, blowing sand, temperature changes, insects, thorny vegetation, and limited shade. Each participant should bring plenty of drinking water, snacks, sunscreen, and any personal medications they may need.

Because the event will take place within an active OHV recreation area, participants must remain alert for nearby vehicles and follow all instructions regarding work zones, parking, and pedestrian safety. Participants will be provided with personal protective and cleaning equipment and will be expected to use tools properly, remain within designated work areas, and follow all instructions provided during the safety briefing.
