We will have local partners and land management agencies gathered at this intersection of many popular hiking trails. There will be opportunities to learn about local wildlife, fire information, history, and the importance of Wilderness. Stop by 3 different booths or go on a mini guided hike to get a National Public Lands Day voucher.
Parking: Available along the Hessie road, but can get crowded over the weekends. Visit the Boulder County website to learn more about the free shuttle program that departs from the Eldora High school: https://bouldercounty.gov/open-space/parks-and-trails/hessie-trailhead/
Mini Guided Hike Information:
Meet at the Hessie Trailhead near the shuttle drop-off area at 9:45 a.m. for a mini-guided hike. The ranger will walk from the trailhead to the bridge heading towards Lost Lake and other trails, highlighting plants and other history facts along the way. Participants on this guided hike will then have the option to continue on whichever hike they like. This guided hike is recommended for adults and children ages 6 and up. The easiest and most popular trail for groups that would like to continue hiking is the Lost Lake trail. Lost lake is considered an easy hike with less than 900 feet in elevation gain over 2 miles of hiking.
