Join Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site staff with cleaning up the historic landscape. Our main project will be raking leaves and collecting sticks and branches to improve the visitor experience and support our bake oven demonstrations. Other projects may include removing invasive vegetation species that are prominent in and around Hopewell Furnace. You may also learn how to identify certain types of invasives and how the National Park Service works to remove these species.
Please bring a pair of gloves, sunscreen, and a hat. Wear comfortable closed-toed shoes, long sleeved shirts and pants, bug spray, and a water bottle. On the day of the event, volunteers will meet at the Hopewell Furnace Visitor Center for a safety debrief and project overview.
Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site is a unit of the National Park Service and preserves and interprets a 19th century iron community.
