Event details

Scattered throughout Leavitt Creek there are remnants of historic beaver activity like chewed tree stumps and logs, blown out dams, and cutbanks with wildlife skeletons that were once buried in beaver dam sediments but are now exposed in cutbanks. The BLM is holding this event to invite the public to experience their public lands in a way that incorporates learning about local history, historic land uses, and wildlife habitat improvement efforts. Work will be done in and out of the stream channel building beaver dam analog structures in an attempt to rebuild a once thriving aquatic and riparian resource. Bring your own water and a lunch, wear appropriate clothing suitable for the weather forecasts for the day and suitable for working in the wet stream environment, open toe shoes are discouraged, and remember your work gloves!
