Are you passionate about caring for public lands or learning about nature? Join us here at Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument for a BioBlitz Guided Hike, where volunteers will learn, discover, and add observations about some the biodiversity here at the park.

The event will be held on September 26th, 2026, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, in celebration of National Public Lands Day. The nation's largest volunteering event!

As a member of park staff will be leading volunteers, this community science event is great for all experience levels. Volunteers will use iNaturalist, an app that helps identify and record species founds. All observations will be uploaded to the "2026 National Public Lands Day - Little Bighorn Battlefield NM BioBlitz" iNaturalist project.

Requirements:

  • Volunteers must be at least 12 years of age. Those under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian the whole-time while volunteering.
  • All volunteers must have a working smart phone that is capable of downloading the iNaturalist app.
  • All volunteers must be able to sign up with iNaturalist and join the project.
